MSL december, page 183

"Oh, Bobby, Christmas morning! What do you think you will find inside your beautiful Christmas package?"
"Gee wilikins, Jane. I don't know, but I suspect it will be an orange, or maybe a Meyer lemon. This is, after all, 'Christmas Morning in Citrus Hues.'"
"Oh, careful, Bobby! In your excitement, you have nearly wrinkled your pajama set! Mother will scold."
"But Jane, I can't help it, there might even be a grapefruit in here. I'm just so excited, so excited, so excited, so excited ... so excited ....... sooo ... exciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ... ii ... i ..... i..
"Oh, Bobby, honestly. ..... MOTHER! Bobby's battery needs to be reset again!"

*I adore Martha Stewart and her magazine and the holiday issue is gorgeous, beautiful, wonderful as always. But was anybody else a little creeped out by this Stepford scene?

I love Martha, too, but I feel like ever since she stopped being totally in charge of the magazine these Stepford scenes have increased. Creepy.

I didn't notice it when I flipped through it. I do like your behind the scenes commentary though. Made me giggle.

Your commentary is hilarious...and freaky.

The pink version of Christmas was of course my favorite. Love Martha, even with her robotic children used as models.

Ummm... this is in a CURRENT issue of the magazine?!? I didn't think that people staged photos as bad as this anymore. Yikes!

Oh my, that's funny that you noticed this, too! I actually stopped reading to show my mother-in-law that very odd photo. Those kids looked so bored and lifeless -- not the way I remember childhood Christmas mornings!

That is so hilarious. I *was* creeped out by this picture too and studied it longer than was necessary before turning the page in sort of disgust. You have hit the nail square on the head with your description and dialogue.

In other news, your candy garland/oranments are WONDERFUL. I would love to make something similar for a minature tree for Bea. Did you follow a pattern/how-to or just develop it yourself?

I use to be a huge fan of MSL, but I think the magazine has lost its "it" factor...photos like these are so not inviting or inspirational :(

YES!!!! And what the heck is with those weird old fashioned old man slippers? Where do you even buy those and when have you EVER seen a child wear something like that?
